Although some of our favs are MIA (where is the album, Rhianna?), there has been a ton of great music spanning all genres released in 2019. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the most exciting things that are yet to come.

Music Coming Up:

Kanye West (Maybe)

Kanye is always here to keep us entertained. His album, Jesus is King, was supposed to drop already. *Spoiler* it didn’t. We keep telling ourselves that he’s probably just perfecting the details, but in case you can’t stand the anticipation, get excited for a mix of hip-hop and major religious influences, along with some insane features. Kanye has seen the light, and his music will reflect that.

Rex Orange County: Coming out October 25th

An indie staple, Rex Orange County is known for romantic, simple, in your feels music. He recently came out with a single called “10/10” just to let everyone know he’s BACK, so get ready to get emotional (in a good way) and have some more songs to add to your sad boi playlist. According to Pitchfork, this is the released tracklist for Rex Orange County’s new album, Pony:

“10/10

Always

Laser Lights

Face to Face

Stressed Out

Never Had the Balls

Pluto Projector

Every Way

It Gets Better

It’s Not the Same Anymore”

Get pumped nerds.

James Arthur: Coming out October 18th

It’s been a long time since James Arthur released a full-length album, but this means he’s had time to create something special. His new single, “Treehouse,” includes a Ty Dolla Sign feature and signals a departure from his traditional acoustic style. Jerk fully supports how his music is evolving into something more contemporary and hip-hop, and we’re looking forward to a few surprises from James Arthur.

The Weeknd:

Although he hasn’t officially announced anything about a new album, avid Twitter followers might’ve noticed a few hints about new music. Abel has mentioned that he is in the creative process, and he also posted a picture of himself on Twitter with the caption “Album mode full effect.” As if his new music wasn’t enough to get excited about, The Weeknd has also been working on building an acting career. If Harry Styles can do it, why can’t Abel?

Artists We Love Already:

Marc E. Bassy:

His newly released album, PMD, follows the quintessential Marc Bassy model. There’s RnB, soul, and indie influences throughout the album, with an overall classic theme of love and sex. His voice is smooth and persuasive, and we dig it. There are a few standouts we absolutely love, like “Aquemini,” which is hip-hop influenced tribute to Outkast. “Save Me” is another, and is perfect for a soulful late-night jam session. According to Hot New Hip Hop, this album is also completely self-released.

Clairo

Syracuse’s greatest claim to fame, Clairo, is finally getting the recognition she deserves. Her album, Immunity, is a must-listen for all indie fans out there. Her super sweet vocals and punk/alternative instrumentals make for the perfect low-key album. Some of the standouts include “North” and “Softly”.

Earthgang

If you weren’t too drunk at Juice Jam, you might recall Earthgang’s performance as a highlight. They recently released Mirrorland, along with features on Revenge, a collaborative rap album by Dreamville Records. Similar to Clairo, they’re quickly rising to fame because of their unique sound. They mix soul, funk, and trap to create a masterpiece that you can absolutely turn up to. Of course, if you need some more music inspiration, check out Jerk’s most recent playlist here:
