Astrology is a popular trend that is sweeping across college campuses all around the nation. It’s common to glance over at a girl’s phone in the middle of class to see her checking her Co-Star. You watch her eyes widen as she panics because she reads “trouble” in sex and love, which means she won’t ask Brad to formal (typical Virgo).

Let’s face it: your star sign is becoming part of your identity, despite how hard you protest the phenomenon. Even if you believe that astrology is vague and inaccurate, astrology aficionados will still make assumptions about you based on your sign. There are countless Instagram and Twitter pages dedicated to astrology memes and in-depth horoscopes. Whether or not you buy into the astrology hype, fashion brands are responding to the demand and producing astrology clothing and accessories.

One popular brand participating in the zodiac trend is Dolls Kill, who produces pieces from their own brand called Horoscopez. Horoscopez features different garments and outfits for each sign, selling hundreds of garments and accessories that are zodiac themed. One particular shirt, The Gemini Secret Sauce Baby Tee, reads, “50% crazy, 50% super crazy, 100% Gemini” and is on sale for $7.25. The image on the Dolls Kill website features two twin models wearing rhinestone chokers which read Gemini on them. Not only does the shirt play into the associations of being a Gemini, but even the way the clothing is shot feeds into the notion that Gemini is the “twin” sign. With their Horoscopez line, Dolls Kill creates clothing and accessories for those who possess a strong selfhood in their star sign.

Another popular company that immerses itself in the astrology fashion trend is Urban Outfitters. They sell items such as a Killer Acid Scorpio Tee for $34.00, Zodiac Socks for $4.99, a Zodiac Baseball Hat for $14.99, and other clothing and accessories. Urban Outfitters even sells specific earrings and necklaces dedicated to your particular zodiac sign. The packaging on the jewelry attributes certain inherited traits to each star sign, such as “innovative, idealistic, dependable” for Aquarius or “determined, courageous, confident” for Aires. Urban Outfitters exemplifies this trend and shift towards astrology as an identity.

Even if you don’t know your exact birth time or if you mix up astrology with astronomy, zodiac fashion is still a fun way to express yourself.
