Procrastination Destination
Picture this: you have a ten page paper due tonight and two exams tomorrow. We know exactly what you need. A nice, quiet, and productive space to do absolutely anything but your homework. Looking for the best procrastination spots around campus? This is the list for you.
Whether you’re sending your snapchat streaks, going five years back into your camera roll or opening your computer solely to go to the iMessage app (yes, we’re calling you out)- Syracuse University is filled with the perfect places to avoid all responsibilities
Cafe Kubal
The coffee shop to go to when Starbucks just isn’t doing it for you. The vibe in there is absolutely unmatched. Chat up the indie baristas and pretend you’re way more hipster than you are instead of actually doing your work. The connected Marshall Square Mall even has a Subway if you really hate yourself!
People’s Place
The perfect spot to get a cheap cup of coffee and wander around the basement of Hendrick’s chapel even though you had a class that started ten minutes ago. There’s a nice study room nearby where you can sit on the couch and people watch while you drink your coffee. It can be pretty quiet, so make sure to put your headphones in while you watch Netflix. There is also undoubtedly the nicest and most private bathroom on campus there. Feel free to do what you want with that information.
Anywhere but Whitman
Don’t get us wrong, the space in Whitman is actually very nice. But, the computer lab only lets Whitman students sign in...um, culty! So, if you’ve procrastinated a little too long and have to print something three minutes before it’s due, this is not the place to be (of course, this has never happened to us). While it’s not our favorite procrastination spot, we will say it’s a pretty fun place to watch the business students run around in suits and do whatever it is that they do.
Life Sciences Cafe
Two words. Bagel sandwich. Not Bird, not Food.com, not even Starbucks. Life Sci, baby. For some reason, the best bagel comes from the Life Sciences Building. Enjoy your bacon, egg and cheese while zoning out in the comfy chairs while everyone around you actually studies. This is also the perfect place to doodle in your notebook instead of actually taking notes on the class you missed this morning.
Your Dorm or Apartment
Leaving your bed is hard, okay. Say no more. We get it. Keep online shopping. Sometimes it’s best to just embrace the procrastination with a nice nap in your own room.
By the Giant Globe in The Geology Building
The globe gives you something interesting to stare at when you don’t have the motivation to finish that paper. It’s nice and empty most of the time, so nobody will catch you slacking off, and in the rare occasion that they do, you can just pretend to be educating yourself on the structure of the earth. It’s a win-win.
Pages Cafe in Bird
At least you’re in a library. It’s the effort that counts, right?
