NONEWFRIENDS. has done it again with their incredible new single, “The Hook”. To those unfamiliar, NONEWFRIENDS. is an Indie-soul band comprised of Syracuse students. Led by frontwoman Elizabeth Stuart, the group has risen to fame through the Syracuse house-venue circuit and is gearing up for great things in the future.

The band released their debut single “Already Gone” in late 2019, which has garnered almost 90,000 streams on Spotify. Since then, NONEWFRIENDS. has been working on their follow-up single, “The Hook.” However, disrupted by the national pandemic, they were left with limited access to recording equipment to finish the song. Thankfully, the group managed to record and mix the song virtually over quarantine and is finally ready to share it with the public.

The talent in this band is immense and “The Hook” is the perfect showcase of both the group’s influences and their musical proficiency. From its swelling jazz intro to Elizabeth’s soulful vocals, this song is nothing short of incredible.

Another notable highlight is the horn section featured on the song, led by the band’s saxophonist Jackson Siporin. The brass shines through this song’s enchanting piano melody to create the perfect Neosoul blend. With two phenomenal singles and more music on the way, it’s clear to see that NONEWFRIENDS. is going places and we can’t wait to see how far they go.
