Everything You Need to Know About Netflix’s Hype House Reality Show
If you’ve been wondering why a few of your favorite Netflix originals weren’t renewed for another season, look no further. Rest assured, the money is getting put to great use: a new Hype House reality show, and yes, you read that right. This reality show will follow the lives of 8 famous TikTokers living in a 9 million dollar house in Santa Monica, CA. The cast will feature Nikita Dragun, Petrou, Larri Merritt, Alex Warren, Hudson, Kouvr Annon, Sienna Mae Gomez, and Jack Wright, who currently have a combined follower count of 126.5 million.
This ragtag cast varies from the original Hype House members due to the decisions of multiple people to leave the group. Charli D'amelio, one of the most famous original Hype House members, has chosen to leave and will surprisingly not be a part of the show. If you’re a fan of Charli, DW; our girl is in the process of creating a docu-series through Hulu with her sister, Dixie, about their rise to fame. She will likely continue to be an active storyline in the reality show as cast member Chase Hudson, Charli’s ex-boyfriend, will have a lot to say about their dramatic breakup and accusations of cheating.
The Hype House has already faced multiple scandals, especially for throwing massive parties earlier in the pandemic and choosing to defy COVID protocols. These upcoming reality show stars are causing drama through scandals of their own and famously made unsafe choices throughout the pandemic. Although it’s difficult to imagine a world in which we genuinely find a connection to these TikTok stars, Netflix says it “will reveal a side of themselves (and their relationships) that we rarely see.”
In terms of scandals prior to Netflix’s announcement of the show, a majority of the Hype House members have controversies of their own. For example, Nikita Dragun has created waves due to viewers accusing her of “blackfishing,” or attempting to make herself look black. In another example, Chase Hudson is currently involved in a sexual assault scandal surrounding the Lopez Brothers allegations from underage girls. There are multiple cases of cheating in relationships throughout the Hype House as well as people dramatically removing themselves from the group.
We can guarantee a full-on hate-binge of this monstrosity; the Hype House reality show is definitely going to be the show of the summer. Hey, who knows? Maybe we’ll find some kind of connection to these TikTok stars after seeing their real life outside of 30-second clips. Like, perhaps we will begin to understand their immature decisions and see them in a sympathetic light? In all likelihood, we will be watching in disgust as we mourn the loss of some of our favorite shows, but we’ll be dead if not wildly entertained.
