Books That Will Change Your Life, Seriously
Gilmore Girls fall is upon us: the leaves are falling and the weather is starting to get chilly. You know what that means: get out your big cozy jacket, a hot coffee, and nestle up with a good book. This book list is not just another sappy love compilation that makes you wish you weren’t surrounded by misogynistic frat bros. Bitch, step out of your comfort zone and get spicy (pumpkin spice, that is). So instead of scrolling through your booktok and seeing everyone in the fall spirit, join them!! It is true what they say, reading makes you smarter.... right?
For the True Crime Girlies
The first book is a novel by Ashley Flowers called All Good People Here. It was reviewed by the #1 True Crime Podcast, Crime Junkie, which Ashley Flowers is a part of. It is perfect for true crime junkies or psychological thriller lovers. You freaks deserve a good read too. These twisty plots leave people stunned. She is able to shock even the most seasoned crime lovers, leaving them wondering, “ who the fuck done it?” Picture it: Indiana. A young journalist. Hometown secrets. Murders. Disappearances. All around hijinx. What could be better? With a twisted up timeline, this read is all the more eerie and chilling. You will love this book and be sleepless for ages :))))
Scott Street by Phoebe Bridgers in Book Form
We all feel nostalgia about our past and our fams, especially when you're stuck in the shitty walls of a dorm room. This coming-of-age book is called People Person by Candice Carty-William. If you want to feel like a Phoebe Bridgers song about a stranger you once knew, READ THIS. Carty-William just tells it like it is. Totally relatable and real, the book focuses on a social media influencer who knows of her half siblings, but she doesn’t really know them. They don’t have anything in common except for faint memories and some pretty complex abandonment issues (relatable). When a dramatic event brings everyone together, you will be glued to these pages. You’ll finally feel like reading isn’t a chore for your WRT 105 class.
Get Yourself Together Bestie!
This last read will transform you into a boss bitch (in a good way, not in the millennial mom decor way). The book is called Why Has Nobody told Me This Before, and it basically tells you how to get your shit together and not sweat the small stuff. Reviews from The New York Times say that the author, Julie Smith, is the bestie we all need. Self help books will forever be relevant to us college students who are in need of some serious improvements. Smith advocates for putting mental health first. Major slay. Whatever you’re struggling with, this book talks about it all. Get ready to be fucking inspired.
Whatever genre you’re into, there is a great book out there for you! Enter your Rory Gilmore era and happy reading ;)
