The Jerkiest Holiday Drink Guide
The holiday season is stressful. The days are spent last-minute shopping for every single person you have ever met before and engaging in small talk with that family member who’s not even real family. It’s okay to need a little extra “holiday cheer” in your thermos, and these drinks are sure to do just that.
A Holiday Mimsosa is perfect for a family or friends brunch, and the drink is super easy to make: mix cranberry juice (good for you ladies), pineapple juice (also good for the ladies), orange juice together and add as much or as little champagne as you want. Garnish with frozen cranberries and lemon slices.
Instead of waiting for someone to warm you up on those cold winter nights, warm yourself up with Mulled Wine. Combine lots of wine (any one of your choice) with orange peels, cinnamon, and fruit juice or punch in a pot, and cook on the stove for around 10 minutes. It’s basically has all the same health benefits as ordering a medicine bomb from Starbucks.
Need some more liquid courage? This Port Manhattan will elevate your holiday dinner and then make you forget it the next day. You’ll need whisky, Tawny Port, and orange bitters, but we’re going to leave serving sizes up to your best judgement. Shake it all together in a cocktail shaker, which is also a great gift for all the alcohol lovers out there, and pour into your favorite martini glass.
Some of us prefer the traditional elements of the holidays, including this Eggnog Cocktail. You’ll probably need three cups of coffee, two cups of bourbon (add more for each family member at the party that you don’t know), and around two quarts of eggnog. Add some spice with a sprinkle of nutmeg. This drink might become your new holiday tradition.
The Holiday Margarita will fulfill all your dreams of being on a beach while your bundled up under five sweaters this year. Keep all the basic ingredients of a margarita — tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and Cointreau, — but add 100% cranberry juice to it. Salt or sugar the rim of the glass and add your favorite garnish to the top. Or treat it like your last holiday gifts and skip the presentation.
These drinks will make your holiday season unforgettable. Well, actually they might make you forget everything if that’s what you need after 2021. In that case, you’ll have a clean slate for the New Year, and who doesn’t want that? Drink up, Jerks!
