Top 6 Moments of SNL’s Season Premiere

Photo courtesy of Instagram.com/NBCsnl The SNL season premiere, a holiday in our books, not only reminds us a TV show can indeed run longer than Lost, but it also gives us a nationally recognized excuse to skip the bars, eat Trios, and nearly wet ourselves at something ridiculous Kate McKinnon said. Saturday Night Live brings up controversial issues in ways that don’t make us want to pull our eyes out, and it succeeds at making politics vaguely bearable (which is a necessity this election season). In case you were too busy making out with a freshman at DJ’s to watch, here’s a recap of some of the top moments of the season 41 premiere.

KATE MCKINNON’S SOMERSAULT INTO THE COLD OPEN

We commend McKinnon for somersaulting on what must’ve been a really hard floor, or just somersaulting in general, because despite what our elementary gym teacher said, that shit isn’t easy. McKinnon’s imitation of Hillary Clinton is always spot-on, and she never fails to remind us how ridiculous the potential leaders of our country and their “Trumped-up Trickle Down Economics” are. Two claps for the real-life Hilly on that pun, which will most definitely go down in history.

MARGOT ROBBIE’S HALEY JOEL OSMENT TATTOOS

Usually we would hate a bitch so attractive we instantly wanted to drink bleach upon sight of her, but, for some reason, Robbie as the premiere’s host made us want to call her up and chill. Though most of her roles on the show didn’t stray far from “hot ditzy girl,” she still showed off her comedic side just enough, especially in the downright strangest sketch we’ve seen on SNL in a while: “The Librarian.” We really hope those tattoos of yet another let-down child star are legitimate.

DARRELL HAMMOND AS BILL CLINTON

Hammond was good as Trump last season, but we truly feel his heart belongs in the role of “the King of Sax.” Hammond as Bill Clinton was a big part of the “Family Feud” sketch, in which he played on Team Hillary, of course. From his initial welcome explicating his love for “the feud” to his conversation with Ivanka Trump about “really good wings,” we want more, and soon.

NEW CAST MEMBER/GUY WE’D BE DTF: ALEX MOFFAT

Once in a blue moon, SNL will bring up some dirty thoughts in the minds of the audience (hello, Drake hosting in Season 40), and last night, those thoughts were there. Three new cast members joined the SNL team this year, including Alex Moffat, the new subject of our wet dreams. The cast had been missing some of its spark since Seth Myers left, but Moffat does the job.

MELANIA MOMENTS

Throughout the episode, not only was Donald himself repeatedly insulted, but also every person in the family. From Erik to Ivanka, no Trump was left behind in this roast of a premiere. “Melania Moments” a minute-long sketch showing off the beautifully intricate mind of Mrs. Trump, made us laugh out loud and also wonder, “Is there life beyond Fifth Ave?”

THE WEEKND’S NEW HAIR

Last but not least, who could forget The Weeknd’s new hair? We didn’t think our boy Abel could get any sexier, but getting rid of his Christmas-tree-like dreads proved us wrong. Besides that, he also absolutely killed both of his performances, including our current favorite song “Starboy.” Overall, we think the performer did a hell of a job and made us more than willing to dish out the entire contents of our bank account next time he performs nearby.
