PinkPantheress is Taking Music to the Next Level
You may not recognize her by name or face, but you’ve definitely heard her catchy little tunes all over Tiktok: ESPECIALLY since most of her songs last less than two minutes.
PinkPantheress is a Black London-based artist with a reputation for putting out viral bop after viral bop. Her songs are the definition of a cutesy sound with darker lyrics than expected. Essentially; she makes crying about life fun.
Under her lyrics is usually a backtrack that resembles Mario Kart’s Rainbow Road: electronic and straight-up silly. However, with her doll-like voice, it WORKS.
PinkPantheress dropped her first-ever mixtape last month, titled “to hell with it,” and we’ve been listening to it on repeat ever since.
Of course fan favorites like “Pain,” “Just for me,” and “Passion,” are included, with the addition of seven other songs completing the tracklist. One of the reasons she’s been so successful is that she doesn’t make anything longer than she needs to. PinkPantheress does what PinkPantheress wants, and nothing more.
Considering the fact that she’s also a college student, it makes a lot of sense that she likes to keep her productions on the shorter side.
Songs like “Noticed I cried” highlights PinkPantheress’ amazing ability to find a beautiful sound to layer. The beginning is a simple, soft set of four notes that resemble little bells which blend in with the drum-like noise that begins ten seconds later. It’s wonderfully overstimulating and memorable.
PinkPantheress has set the tone for other emerging artists as she’s made it okay to not fit into the typical radio length. One of the things that can be frustrating about other artists and good songs is the fact that there’s only one really good part which you always have to wait for. PinkPantheress has none of that: she gives you exactly what you want immediately and doesn’t prolong it.
Thanks, PinkPantheress. We appreciate your Wii-sounding music.
