Happy Women’s History Month! Here are some suggestions on how to celebrate this glorious time.

Read Some Intersectional Feminist Theory

Knowledge is power, amirite ladies?! If you’re aching to gain a deeper understanding of, y’know, the fucked up ways the patriarchy runs across, like...EVERYTHING, here are some book recs: Women, Race, and Class by Angela Davis is PHENOMENAL. Davis explains the history of the feminist movement in America, why it’s necessary, and its shortcomings to marginalized women. To those who are sick of mansplaining (so all women everywhere, basically), Men Explain Things To Me by Rebbeca Solnit might be of interest. Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay is a classic and very relatable. So sit down, relax with your feminist lit of choice, and you’re on your way.

Buy a Sex Toy

Not that we should have to convince you, because your pleasure is OBVIOUSLY a number #1 priority all year round. Head on down to your ~local sex shop~ and find something that strikes your fancy. The options are LITERALLY endless--from classic dildos to cute and compact vibrators, you’re bound to find something that’s just your speed. Take some time to figure out what works for you. Explore which sizes, materials, movements, and even colors you *vibe* with--pun very much intended. If you’re interested, you could even pick up a strap-on (can be used to peg a man, see point #3)! To our more discreet ladies who wanna keep things on the DL, there are some great online retailers. Spectrum Boutique, Babeland, and Unbound are all women-friendly. Instacart is also an option if you are in a dire situation. This is purely an act of self-care.

Let Your Inner Misandrist Out

To quote Louisa May Alcott: “Women, they have minds, and they have souls, as well as just hearts. And they’ve got ambition, and they’ve got talent, as well as just beauty”. TBH, every man is...just some guy. 2021 is the year to embrace your superiority and seek liberation. Women are constantly being called feminazis, cunts, man-haters--the list goes ON--for calling themselves “feminists,” so why not just go all the way?

(Disclaimer: To anyone who takes this seriously, misandry is not the same misogyny. There is no power in being a misandrist).

Support Women in Any Way You Can

No act is too small. Skip the Quentin Tarantino, and put on some films by underappreciated female directors. From Beyoncé to Mitski, give some of your fav female artists a stream. Shop at women-run businesses. Donate to girls in need. Volunteer at your community’s women’s shelter. Send an important woman in your life something to let you know you appreciate her. The possibilities are endless. We have more impact together than alone.

Any way you choose to celebrate Women’s History Month, make sure you’re taking the time to honor yourself and all the women who have moved the journey towards equality forward.
