On the 15th anniversary of Hannah Montana’s debut, Miley Cyrus shared an ode to her former alter ego. If you didn’t already get the chance to read it, this sweet message is posted both on Instagram and Twitter

TW: reading this letter might make you feel

  1. Old AF

  2. Extremely nostalgic

We’re starting to understand what our parents mean when they go on about how time flies...because how has it been more than a decade? It seems like just yesterday we were eating Lucky Charms and watching HM reruns before getting on the school bus. The class of 2024 was around five years old when the pilot aired in 2006. Ah, the good old days. But seriously, fifteen years is a longgg time; it’s a little anxiety-inducing, TBH. After reading, we admittedly went through a mini-crisis of...HOW DID THE YEARS GO BY LIKE THIS? WHERE IS MY LIFE GOING? WHY DO I SORTA HATE MY MAJOR?

Growing up is bittersweet. On the one hand, you have all of the independence and opportunity to do whatever you want, yet on the other hand, you have to deal with the realization that your childhood and everything you cherished during that time has come to end. But before you have a full-blown meltdown, reel it in. Like Miley, you have time to figure things out (The Bangerz era is haunting).

H-Mons will always have a special place in our hearts. We wondered when Lily and Oliver would figure out their best friend was a pop star idol. We fought over whether Hannah should end up with our favorite boy-next-door Jake or Jesse, with his tough exterior but surprisingly emotionally tender interior. We gasped when Miley took off her wig and finally revealed she was The Hannah Montana to the world. If this got you in the mood to binge the show, all four seasons are available to stream on Disney+.

The songs listened to, concerts attended, and obviously Hannah Montana: The Movie all mattered. Watching Miley grapple with stardom, learn the importance of music, and figure out her true identity are all lessons that stay with us today when we reminisce about HM.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but part of us secretly hopes the letter was the precursor to a Hannah Montana revival tour. 10/10 would spend an obscene amount of money for a front-row ticket to a show, even if it was just to reclaim a piece of our childhoods for a night.

So yeah...we might have even shed a tear when reading Miley’s letter to Hannah Montana. But can you blame us?
