Ever the diplomat, President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to begin construction on the fabled “Mexican Border Wall,” a project that aims to be as expensive as it is useless.

You might remember the wall from some of its greatest hits, such as when Trump announced his plan for the wall by calling Mexico an adversary, and claiming that our southern neighbors were sending their “murderers” and “rapists” over to America. Trump also angered former Mexican president Vicente Fox, as well as current president Enrique Peña Nieto by promising his supporters that Mexico would pay for the border wall (which many estimates put at roughly $8 billion).

Unsurprisingly, Trump has maintained that Mexico will pay for his Ode to Ineffective Border Security, even if the means seem somewhat questionable.

"I'm just telling you that there will be a payment,” said Trump. “It will be in a form - perhaps a complicated form."

Trump, who has a history of struggling with both forms and complicated matters, does not seem to have a legitimate plan regarding the funding for the border wall. If he cannot actualize one soon, the American people could be on the hook for a $15 billion bill.
