What Your Statement Tee Says About You
No longer do you need to throw on that Pink Floyd T-shirt (even when you don’t know who they are) to look retro and make a statement. As logo tees made a comeback across social media and celebrity street style, they’ve become a staple piece to every fashionista’s wardrobe. These T-shirts are usually blunt and unforgiving, requiring a certain level of throwing shade to qualify for a valid logo tee.
Here are some examples of how sassy these T-shirts can get:
1. “lol ur not Harry Styles”
This T-shirt screams, “If you’re not as hot as me, don’t talk to me.” You probably think you’re high up in the social hierarchy, since you have the balls to wear this. You’re not necessarily a 1D fangirl, but you most certainly think Harry Styles is cute. If you have this tee, you spend a lot, and I mean a lot, of time on Tumblr. You spend hours scrolling, reblogging, and posting selfies in attempt to become “Tumblr famous.”
2. “Eat my shorts”
As seen on Marina of Marina & The Diamonds, this tee basically says “fuck off” in a slightly more hipster way. If you own one of these, you also spend a few too many unhealthy hours on Tumblr as well. The design of this shirt is seen all over indie and grunge blogs run by teenagers who hate their lives. Single, but not looking? No problem! Wear this shirt to the bars and all the boys will know not to go to your yard for a milkshake.
3. “Bitch don’t kill my vibe”
Popularized by Kendrick Lamar’s hit song, this phrase is all over printed T-shirts, beanies, hoodies, and so on. This saying let’s people know that you’re just trying to party and have a good time. If you are you a girl who goes to raves or music festivals, you definitely own one of these — just admit it. Wearing this tee to a rave lets others know that you’re from California and probably also a sorority girl.
4. “You Complete Me(ss)”
The brand Unif is known for its cynical, satirical T-shirts, that at times even feature a play on words. This ironically spunky tee simultaneously features two completely different messages. By wearing this, you are trying to tell the world “I don’t need a boyfriend/girlfriend,” or, “jk I’m actually really lonely be my friend pls.”
All of the T-shirts mentioned above can be found on Etsy for way more money than they are actually worth. So if you fall under any of the categories mentioned above, definitely check them out!
The logo tee trend is a quirky way to express your hatred towards the world through a more subtle statement while looking fab at the same time. Which logo tee stereotype are you? Let us know on Twitter.
