4 Reasons Why You Have to Tune Into SNL's 40th Anniversary Special
Live from New York — it’s Saturday Night!
This line has been a staple of every episode of the legendary "Saturday Night Live" for the past 40 years. In commemoration of 40 years of laughs, musical performances and stars born out of this show, NBC announced SNL’s 40th Anniversary Special. The three hour-long show is set to air at 8 p.m. on February 15. Whether you are a die-hard SNL fan, or have only seen one of the famous sketches, this anniversary special will definitely be one for the books. Grab your friends, grab your pint of ice cream, grab your snuggie and get ready for plenty of laughs. Here are my top reasons to tune in on Saturday night.
1. Taylor Swift and Kanye West will both be there. In case you’ve forgotten that one time Yeezus jumped on stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, the fact that these two are going to be together in NBC Studios is a big deal. Could there possibly be a skit reenacting the whole scene? One can only hope.
2. Legends from years past of SNL will all come together on stage for the first time — ever. Without a question, SNL has introduced us to some of the greatest comedians of our time. Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler… the list can go on and on. These stars, many of which haven’t been on SNL in years, will be back for this special. You better be fucking excited because this is going to be incredible.
3. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Watching them host the Golden Globe Awards this year just wasn’t enough. They will be together again on February 15. Must I say more?
4. Sarah Palin is coming back. It’s been confirmed, this one-woman ratings superstar will be on the special. We can’t forget when Palin’s legitimate doppleganger Tina Fey spoofed her during the 2008 presidential election. Two weeks later, Palin appeared as herself. Should the second time around be just as good? You betcha.
