Bumble Guys vs. Tinder Guys
A modern day romance all begins with one swipe. Dating apps are a fun way to pass the time, find a quick and convenient hookup, or even find love. But how do they compare to each other?
Bumble’s set up actually gives less opportunity for creepiness, at least, if you’re a girl. Any female user has to message her male match first, within 24 hours of a mutual connection. Guys can extend this time frame if they REALLY like you (or are really desperate and hoping that you just haven’t seen their match yet). The only problem with the layout is that it’s kind of confusing when looking at the profiles, unless you are a master at dating apps (and let’s face it, you are), because you have to scroll vertically instead of horizontally to view profiles.
Tinder is like Bumble’s less picky wingman. Tinder will try to fuck everyone and anyone who looks him in the eye for a second too long. There are no restrictions here on who can message whom. The great thing about Tinder is that you can get super-liked so you can know if someone is just interested or if they are SUPER interested, which is good for the self-esteem.
Since anyone can message on Tinder, the pick up lines are usually pretty lame or cheesy. Hannah says, “Bumble has hotter guys, from my experience, but the one time I actually went on Bumble, the guy was super forward from the start which turned me off.” Tinder guys get the gold for being more douche, but it should be noted that guys on both apps can be super creepy. Online dating is a slippery slope.
Syracuse’s very own Tinderella, Fallon, says, “Bumble has real husband material. These guys have actual occupations and are hotter for sure.” On Tinder, guys usually lack creativity when it comes to messaging and starting conversations. On Bumble, guys usually lack creativity with their bios. Many guys don’t even have bios on Bumble, or if they do, they consist of their height and boring facts that no one cares about like “coffee enthusiast.”
Tinder guys don’t seem to be the brightest bulbs in the box. When answering the question, “What’s your sexiest outfit?” with “A turtleneck and my lucky pair of slacks,” one guy still found a way to assume there was some type of sexual innuendo with that answer. Guys on Bumble seemed to be more serious, not seeming to like my hilarious bio (half a virgin, looking to lose my other half) while tinder guys played along with my “Super like if you want to see real not fake female anatomy” bio (although there were way too many guys that thought I was being serious). I found some swell guys on both apps, but Tinder guys went right to the point with asking for either my number or Snapchat right away. All of the guys, no matter the app, knew to have pictures with animals in them for a guaranteed swipe right.
There seemed to be a clear consensus that Tinder is where you go for a one-time fling whereas Bumble is where you look to meet potential romances.
Whether you prefer Tinder or Bumble or neither, dating apps are fun to mess around with. It’s possible to find a syracutie on either app, it’s just up to you to figure out how many left-swipes you want to deal with first.
