Drink Up & Deck Out

CD Coasters: By Stephanie Aviles While a lot of people toss scratched CDs in the trash, you just need some felt and a glue gun to turn these throw-aways into the next party’s conversation piece. Simply cut a piece of felt into a circle slightly bigger than the scratched CD, and slap it over that AOL emblem branded on the other side. Now that you’ve got yourself some bangin’ coasters, get creative and decorate them with paint. If you choose to do so, make sure to protect your design with a clear coat of spray paint to prevent it from chipping once you use them.

Wine Lights: By Julia Terruso Done with the bottle of Obama champagne? Does your room look far too drab for the fast-approaching holiday season? Transform your empty bottle into a lamp with a cork and a string of Christmas lights. Using a glass cutter or drill, cut a hole in the bottom of the bottle big enough to fit the strand of lights. This is the toughest part, so use a little muscle, but be careful and watch out for glass shards. Next, stick your twinkly lights into the bottle. Try to spread the lights out as evenly as possible. This is easier if you plug the lights in while arranging them. Cork the top and decorate as desired. Plug in and enjoy life in the wine light.
