Why We’re Hesitant to Get On Board With Gwen and Blake

https://www.instagram.com/p/-AgfH8HpqP Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani finally confirmed their relationship and none of us know how to feel about it. After losing the royal couple of country music–R.I.P. Blake and Miranda– it might take us a while to get used to this random pair. So, if you’re seriously torn about the topic like I am, take a look at this list of pros and cons as you sort through your emotions.

Pros:

1. We could be on the verge of something big in music.

I literally can’t think of two musicians who are more different. With Blake’s at times fun, at times angsty, but always-catchy country music and Gwen’s punk/pop thing that she’s got going on, we could see a mind-blowing duet in the near future.

2. It’s possible that Gavin Rossdale might’ve cheated, so Gwen deserves some love.

With all this bad press about the questionable timing of Gwen and Blake’s romance, it almost flew completely under the radar that Gavin was banging the nanny. It eventually came out that Gwen saw a sext pop up on Gavin’s iPad while she was playing a game with her children. Major dick move to give your kids your iPad while you pass around nudes with your side-piece.

Needless to say, it’s kind of cute that Blake was there when she needed someone. My closing thoughts on this situation: a) it is not okay that the Rossdale kids low-key witnessed some X-rated imagery while playing Candy Crush and b) celebrities need to stop hiring hot nannies.

3. They would make really adorable children.

No one can deny that Gwen has popped out some adorable kids, and adding Blake Shelton to the gene pool might just be the cherry on top. Her angel-faced boys are already fashion icons in their own right, and if Blake and Gwen procreate, we may have another little starlight in the making. She might have to throw a little more blue jean and plaid into their wardrobes though, so Blake doesn’t feel left out.

Cons:

Now that we’ve covered the reasons why this couple may not end of the world, let’s address the issues with this relationship that weigh heavily on our hearts.

1. They are literally the most random couple in existence.

Coordinating outfits for award shows might get tricky with this pair. Imagining his endless supply of all-American flannel button-up and denim combined with her half shirts and red lipstick are stressing us out (but it’s something to enjoy on Fashion Police, so that’s a plus). Also, Gwen’s always seemed like a very sweet person, like someone you would want to grab a drink with because you know she would compliment your outfit and lift your mood. Blake, on the other hand, is known for being punchy and a little sassy, so they might be incompatible.

2. This is the end of country music royalty.

Disclaimer: we don't actually know if Miranda and Blake’s divorce was a result of this pairing, but it doesn’t make it sting any less. No more killing it together on the CMA red carpets. Now, we have to say goodbye to the two lovebirds and their endless amount of award show sweeps. We didn’t have enough time to mourn the end of Blake and Miranda before Blake and Gwen came in the picture, so resentment for the new couple is just human nature.

3. The relationship's timing (aka, the elephant in the room).

The timing of this relationship was the definition of shady. Blake and Miranda announced their divorce when the public was just starting to believe in love again. Then Blake and Gwen dropped their relationship confirmation like a hot potato. Did they cheat? I guess we may never know, but Miranda has been throwing some major shade about how the timing of their announcement didn't surprise her… Blake, we're watching you.

4. Blake is a notorious cheater.

He cheated on his ex-wife to be with Miranda. He may have cheated on Miranda to be with Gwen then. Who’s to say he won’t do the same to Gwen? His history shows that he seems to be on the hunt for the next available option when he’s feeling lonely, and Gwen’s just coming off a major betrayal. We hope she knows what she’s getting herself into. My advice to Blake: don’t let Gwen’s kids borrow your iPad, their innocent eyes have seen too much already.

It's now up to you to consider the facts and decide whether or not you’re going to be a Gwake/Blen shipper (I just made those up—should I patent?). Personally, I don’t know if I can see passed the cons (Miranda and Blake forever), but I’ll open my eyes to Blake and Gwen if they prove to be in it for the long haul. Let’s hope that they are, though. If not, The Voice could get awkward real fast, and Adam Levine doesn't deserve to deal with that kind of stress.
