Jaden Smith Proves Crazy Can Be Cool
When you think of celebrity kids, three things come to mind. They are either working towards doing exactly what their celebrity parents are famous for, are really smart and going in the complete opposite of their parents career, or are Instagram famous for spending their parents money and having fun. Most aren’t declaring themselves as scientists, but here comes Jaden Smith ready to disprove the stereotypical celebrity kid.
No one can forget Jaden’s first role on the big screen opposite his dad, rapper and actor Will Smith, in The Pursuit of Happiness. The kid stole the spotlight from his famous father and acted well beyond what most people think an eight-year-old kid is capable of. He went on to be the star of his own movies such as The Karate Kid and After Earth, create the MSFTS clothing line, and produce two albums. While he is in talks to play the role of superhero Static Shock, Jaden Smith nowadays isn’t known for being an actor, rapper or fashion designer. He is mainly known for being… weird.
From some very confusing tweets to dressing up as Batman at Kimye’s wedding, Jaden definitely is not your average teenager. He defied gender norms by going to prom with Amandla Stenberg in a dress. He built a pyramid in his backyard and ranted abut how people should be free to express themselves in anyway. He is insightful in his own right, even if he is a little bit misunderstood.
In a recent GQ article Jaden talked about how he conducts science experiments with his sister Willow. The pair purposely says confusing and unusual statements in interviews. So if you’ve ever asked yourself “what the fuck is he talking about,” than you probably reacted exactly how Jaden expected you too. He also plans to disappear for ten years and than one day pop up out of the blue through art installations.
"It'll be like, ‘this just happened that helped a bunch of people over here. We don't know who did it, but these symbols and things were left around, so we can only guess that it's Jaden and the squad,’” said Jaden.
So to recap, Jaden plans on pursuing a career as a scientist who tests humanity and (hopefully) helps people. Think the intelligence of Peter Parker mixed with the mystery of Batman combined, minus the raspy voice and cape. The kid may be a bit eccentric, but he is definitely making us think. Think about what? Who knows, but we are definitely racking our brains trying to understand him or at least take him seriously.
"It's the best thing,” he said. “People think you're crazy. I feel like it's an honor, actually, for people to think I'm crazy.” We have to give kudos to Jaden, for being proud to be weird and crazy all for the good of society. If you do one day become a world-renowned scientist who comes up with an extraordinary theory, you can definitely say, “I told you so.”
